Thanks to the 250+ graduating students who took part- we had good numbers in most categories and a real flood of entries in a number of very competitive categories.
We offer thanks and best wishes to graduating students all who submitted their best work. Again this year, we were overwhelmed with the response in the large volume and high quality of design entries spread across all categories. These were from graduating design students in 23 different colleges all over Ireland. There is now a grand total 488 entries to be reviewed and judged. We’ll engage a range of experienced designers with this task. This judging takes place later this Summer and we’ll announce a shortlist of finalists in the Autumn. The exhibition of all finalists and the annual prizegiving event takes place in IADT in November. There are trophies to be won in all categories and an overall Grand Prix trophy.
Thank you all for sharing your best designs with us and we wish you the best of luck in the 2018 competition!
The race is on and all are in with a great chance!
More detail and more announcements to follow in August/September 2018.
We are really delighted to have CEUD, IADT, Boxclever, Arup and Design Partners come on board with IDI this year as supporters of this wonderful graduate design competition.
Following on from the enormous success of the 2017 awards, where we had nearly five hundred entries from over twenty design colleges, we want to build on this for 2018. We are excited to announce that IADT have agreed to host the awards again, showcasing the best of graduate design work in Ireland.
To enter you must graduate in 2018 from a taught degree, post-graduate diploma or masters course. You must be a member of the IDI, either graduate or undergraduate on or completing a full-time course in 2018.
We are delighted to say that CEUD, IADT, Boxclever, Arup and Design Partners have all come on board this year as supporters and sponsors.
The categories range from animation and architecture via branding, book design and fashion to digital design, craft, product design, typography and illustration via design research and UX... and much more. We also offer prizes for Medical Devices and Social Product Design. We believe that there is something here for everyone graduating in design just now.
In addition we offer other awards categories including The Arup Award for the built environment, a Universal Design Award, a Sustainable Design Award and a Transdisciplinary Design Award, which involves students from different disciplines collaborating on a project.
Please go to the Awards 2018 Website and be guided through the entire process and see detail for each category.
We'll award prizes based on how entrants describe their project and its qualities in respect of both Universal Design and Sustainable Design!
