COMMERCIAL OBJECTIVE
The brief was to create a contemporary commercial cinema. The brief outlined the need to begin the entertainment experience at the front door and not just as the film starts.
DESIGN OBJECTIVE
The objective was to create a contemporary interior that reflected the cinematic environment. To create a dramatic space while utilising the client’s brief requirements.
DESIGN THEME
Cinematic references. Projection: office cubes at mezzanine level used as projection screens; form: black corridor provides contrast to open white foyer, folding forms break down perspective; film: black and neon green of corridor; candy colours: cinema confectionery.
TARGET AUDIENCE
We wanted to create a streamlined interior that would provide ease of use for the general public, from commercial aspects of space planning to product display/signage, all design elements were carefully considered in every detail.
JURY COMMENTS
The jury were impressed with the design of the entrance, quite small but light and the use of colour makes it appear spacious. The black walls give a sense of suspense – technically it is very cleverly done. The highlight colours are vivid and bright.
