There are 9 categories of entry (incorporating 19 sub-categories). Entrants for each sub-category will be eligible for the award of Commended, Highly Commended or Overall Winner.


01 COMMERCIAL INTERIOR & EXHIBITION DESIGN

01 A     Residential
01 B     Commercial
01 C     Exhibition

The jury will be looking at the use of materials and their appropriate use within the space. A short (5 minutes or less) video may be submitted as part of the entry.


02 MOTION GRAPHICS & PRODUCTION DESIGN

02 A     TV/Film Title Design and Branding
02 B     TV/Film/Theatre Production/Set Design

A short (5 minutes or less) Video Clip or DVD may be submitted as part of the entry. Please upload your clips to an FTP or FileSharing site. Please email the login/download details along with your entry. Alternatively you can send in your clip on a CD/DVD.


03 VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS

03 A     Corporate/Brand ID
03 B     Promotional Literature/Publications
03 C     Annual Reports
03 D     Packaging

Innovation, quality and adherence to the design brief are essential in this category. You are encouraged to submit samples with your entry.


04 FASHION & TEXTILE DESIGN

04 A     Fashion
04 B     Textiles (Printed, Woven or Embroidered)
04 C     Accessories

No conceptual work will be accepted. Quality of execution is a key factor in this category. You are encouraged to submit samples with your entry.


05 Digital DESIGN

05 A     Website Design
05 B     Mobile Application Design
05 C     Digital Animation
05 D     Interaction Design

Entries must be submitted as a URL where apppropriate or on a PC formatted CD.


06 PRODUCT DESIGN

06 A     Consumer Products
06 B     Industrial Products
06 C     Furniture

Entries must have been completed/manufactured/produced within the specified period. No conceptual work will be accepted. You may submit a short video clip showing a 360 degree view of the completed product. The judges may also request submission of production models or prototypes where appropriate.


07 DESIGN EDUCATION

This category recognises innovative work done by IDI Design Education Members. Entries could include design projects run in conjunction with industry or other organisations e.g. charities, the organisation of a design exhibition or the promotion of Design in general. Entries should step beyond the boundaries of day-to -day Design Education activities, and the award will be given for the design project as a whole and individual student work should not form part of the entry.


08 UNIVERSAL DESIGN

A Universal Design Award will be presented to the entrant who best meets the criteria set by the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design (CEUD). Entry to this category is open to all and the cost will be included in member's regular entry fees. Judging for this category are based on the 7 Principles of Universal Design. 09 DESIGN SUSTAINABILITY

A sustainable design award will be presented to the company that best demonstrates a conscious effort to reduce its use of non-renewable resources in its final entry, thereby minimizing the environmental impact of its design and connecting the target audience to their natural environment. Entry to this category is open to all and the cost will be included in member's regular entry fees
