IDI designers and architects have volunteered to provide free advice to visitors at the Ideal Homes Show which took place at the RDS Dublin, 23rd - 26th October 2009. Visitors were asked to bring or email photos of the room or rooms they want to improve or completely redecorate.

Ann-Marie Mc Carthy MIDI
Qualified from Griffith College Dublin 2007 and received her BA in Interior Architecture. She worked in Coughlan Dekeyser Associates, based in the Cork City Suburbs for two years before starting her own interior architecture business, MAC Interior Design. Ann-Marie is also a member of the IDI (Institute of Designers in Ireland). She provides turnkey interior design and decorating services to private residential and commercial clients from initial concept right through to completion. From single rooms to entire houses she has the expertise to ensure your project is completed on time and on budget. As person who has been trained to generate striking spaces; analyze the use, function and safety of interior spaces. She can develop designs and set up detailed drawings using broad and specialized knowledge. Auto Cad | Design | Furniture | Materials. She can hire, oversee and work together with a variety of sub contractors to make sure all elements of the design correspond. She will go in and advise how to present it to its best potential. She aspires to produce interiors that are visually balanced and a representation her client personalities. She makes sure that she identifies with their needs, so that each design is an accurate indication of the client’s standard of living. Contained by this concept she aims to implement her expertise in matching styles, furniture, fabrics, and colour. She offers straightforward, clear; guidance and her clients are regularly reassured by her practical approach. Client input is vital, but she will make certain that the interference to you and your home is kept to a minimum, so that her clients are then left with an interior that has been carefully designed and skillfully executed.

Martin Mc Cormick MIDI
n 2008, Martin McCormick established his own design consultancy, drawing on the skills and experience he has gained over the last 15 years in Ireland and abroad. Martin McCormick Design Studio generates and delivers 3D environments, with particular expertise in residential projects including renovations, extensions and one-off houses. Martin recently won the residential category in the Institute of Designers in Ireland Awards 2008. The studio offers full design and project management services - from initial concept, through planning to successful completion on site. Previously Martin was Business Development Manager with Douglas Wallace Architects, and had responsibility for new business within the Irish market. He also managed the company’s brand communications as well as assisting with various marketing campaigns. Martin joined Douglas Wallace from McNally Design International, where he managed the group’s satellite office in Sydney and had specific responsibility for the South East Asia market working for clients such as Diageo, Red Rock Leisure and Burswood Casino. Previously Martin was a senior designer for the retail division at Geyer Design Sydney, designer for Peter Mark and Waterford Crystal at Douglas Wallace and an assistant designer for the Promotions Department at the Irish Trade Board, designing exhibition stands for Irish companies exhibiting at International trade fairs. Martin graduated in Environmental Design at the Dublin Institute of Technology in 1993. His interests include property development, photography and travel.

Geraldine O'Brien MIDI
Qualified with a BSc in Architectural Technology from Heriot Watt University in Edinburugh and a Masters in Design from The University of Technology Sydney. Geraldine also has 15 yrs experience in Interior Architecture and Design co-ordination in both Ireland and Australia. Geraldine is a member of the IDI (Institute of Designers in Ireland), Arch Tech MRIAI (Royal Institute Of Architects Ireland) and MBIDA (British Interior Design Association). Geraldine has worked with an extensive list of corporate clients in Australia such as NRMA, Common Wealth Bank (CBA), TMP World Wide (Monster Dot Com), Deutsche Bank, Michael Page International and Ord Minnett. Geraldine's Irish experience ranges from Architectural Design to Interior Architecture acting as Project Design Co-ordinator on a 5 star hotel & holiday village in Cork and projects such as a mixed use development in Dublin, creating several show apartments and a purpose built marketing suite in Sandyford Dublin and many large scale residential projects around the country. Since opening her own practice Design Sense in 2007 she has been working on creating luxury show homes and restaurant statement spaces in the hospitality sectors and spends 70% of her time on residential projects for private clients with a decerning eye for contemporary spaces, helping her clients streamline the design information required for trades during the entire project whilst making sure that every interior detail in the brief has been addressed in the final build.

Declan O’Donnell MIDI / MRIAI
Creative Director, Architect and Partner of ODKM Architects, Declan studied at the revered Mackintosh School of Architecture in Glasgow and honed his career at internationally acclaimed world renowned architectural firm Foster + Partners in London, the largest most prestigious design firm in the world. During his time there, he took a lead role in the design of some of the most significant and challenging projects across the globe at the very cutting edge of contemporary architecture. He worked on projects ranging from small scale feasibility studies, to office refurbishments, international competitions and high end residential developments across London and the UK, Ireland, Europe, the US and the Far East.
