•  Regional Development:

Strengthening connections in the regions through initiatives run by an appointed a Regional Development Officer to enhance collaboration with growth industries.
 

•  Sustainability Platform & Plan of Action for Designers:

In 2023, IDI secured Climate Action Funds and British Council support, culminating in the launch of Design Declares Sustainability Platform: DesignDeclares.ie.
 

•  Championing Design in Government & Strategic Business Partnerships:

IDI plays a pivotal role in positioning design in the Commercial Creative Industries space, including the 2023 Action Plan for Designing Better Public Services, establishing strategic partnerships with Enterprise Ireland to support design businesses and lobbying for legislative action supporting and protecting your income, job creation, training and education for design.
 

•  National and International Community Engagement:

Steered by our board directors, we collaborate with partner stakeholders to run national strategic design initiatives as well as EU initiatives in design. 

We actively engage with the design community and education through initiatives like: 

• The New Now - our National showcase for graduating designers in Ireland;
• Design Opp, promoting inclusion and diversity within the Irish design industry
• WhyDesign, promoting gender balance and equality in the design industry
• Initiatives in partnership with the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design (CEUD) promoting high design standards and universal design principles, 

We organise IDI FEED events feeding Creative Thinkers Minds, and In-house design, agencies and solopreneur forums to facilitate discussions and collaborations. 
We also bring renowned international designers (Simone Rocha, Simon Dixon and more) to Ireland and offer exclusive opportunities to members to take part in Design events across the full Design Disciplines Spectrum: DESIGN POP Cork (Architecture), FONTSTAND (Lettering), EPDA (Packaging), Ideal Home Show (Interior), Design Summer Sessions and more.
