Former IDI President and long term board Director Andrew Bradley has been appointed as Chair to the board of the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland, marking a commitment by government to the ongoing development of the design sector.
Andrew said: "I am delighted to be the first IDI Member to have been appointed to Chair of the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland as the sector experiences what I believe is the early stages of a renaissance in Ireland. There is much to do if Ireland is to realise the economic potential of the craft and design sector and our new strategy, currently under development by DCCI and KPMG, will play an important part. In my 30 years, I have never seen Government so engaged in our community and ambitious for the design and craft sector. It is a very exciting time to be working in design."
President of the IDI Dominic Southgate said; “We welcome Andrew’s appointment as Chair of DCCI, knowing full well his tenacity and drive to progress the design sector in Ireland after his successful tenure on the Board and as a past President. We’re looking forward to working with Andrew and DCCI to support the implementation of the new strategy.”
