WhyDesign 2023

WhyDesign 2023

Join us for our annual WhyDesign event to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 9th, 2023 in the Sugar Club with Nat Pearce of The Future ind Collective, Julian Thompson of Rooted by Design, Grace Enemaku of DesignOpp and MC Nick O’Laoire. This year we will #EmbraceEquity, and as always encourage a 50/50 representation of men and women to support the role of women in design.

We are excited to invite you, the Irish creative community, to join us on the evening of March 9th to the Sugar Club Dublin for our WhyDesign 2023 to celebrate International Women’s Day. Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. Collectively we can all #EmbraceEquity.

We have invited incredible speakers to bring this theme to life, including Nat Pearce of The Future Kind Collective, Julian Thompson of Rooted by Design, and Grace Enemaku of DesignOpp. The event will be MC'd by the wonderful Nick O’Laoire.

Nick O'Laoire - MC

Nick will be our MC for the evening, guiding the conversation with his disruptive approach to design and creativity with Uncertified, where they make brand building simple. He says; ‘I’m a branding consultant. I get to work with my best friends, helping people declutter their business and sell with style. We think of it like Queer Eye meets Marie Kondo for brands.'

Julian Thompson - Speaker

Julian is the proud Founder of Rooted By Design, a Strategic Design and Futures Company, with an ambitious mission to transform the experiences Black Communities have of life and society. His work often sits at the intersection of change, racial equity and movement building.

Natalie Pearce - Speaker

Natalie is a Culture Designer, Workshop Facilitator and Cofounder of The Future Kind Collective - a culture consultancy with the service design know-how to create kinder, fairer, better employee experiences for every stage of company growth.

As an ex-Head of Culture for a scaling agency, Nat knows what it takes to develop, maintain and evolve an industry-renowned culture ingrained in empathy, trust, collaboration, curiosity and empowerment, and brings this experience to working with other startups, scaleups and high growth companies. During her consultancy career, she's led projects for Insights, Amnesty International, NatWest, BP, MasterCard and many more!

Grace Enemaku - Speaker

Grace Enemaku is an award-winning, Nigerian-Irish multidisciplinary designer and illustrator from Dublin. She is a founder of DesignOpp, an IDI initiative to champion diversity for People of Colour in the Irish creative industry. Select clients include Arnotts, Guinness, Cadburys, Facebook/Meta, The Science Gallery, Gill Books and more.

We would love to see a 50:50 gender balance reflected in our audience. So women, please bring a man or men bring yourselves, you are all very welcome.
